Frequently asked questions

Everything about verifying company wallet ownership with WalletOrigin.

What is WalletOrigin?+

WalletOrigin is a verification service that cryptographically links a company's DNS domain to the blockchain wallets it controls, producing a public, auditable proof of wallet ownership.

How does the verification work?+

You prove control of your domain by publishing a DNS TXT record at your registrar, and control of each wallet by signing a challenge with its private key. WalletOrigin verifies both proofs and publishes the attestation in a public directory.

Do I have to share my private keys?+

No. WalletOrigin is fully non-custodial. Private keys never leave your wallet — only a cryptographic signature is shared, and a signature proves ownership without exposing the key.

Which blockchains and wallets are supported?+

Ethereum and EVM chains, Solana, Bitcoin, Cosmos, Sui and Aptos. Supported wallets include MetaMask, Rabby, Phantom, Solflare, Keplr, Xverse, Suiet, Petra and more.

What do I need to verify my domain?+

Access to your DNS settings (for example at your registrar or DNS provider) so you can add one TXT record, and a wallet for each address you want to bind. Verification completes once the record is live and the wallet signatures are checked.

How long does verification take?+

The wallet signature is verified instantly. The DNS TXT record depends on your provider's propagation time — usually minutes, occasionally up to 24–48 hours.

What can anyone else see?+

The public directory shows the verified domain, its logo and wallet counts. It never shows your wallet addresses unless you explicitly choose to list them publicly.

Can AI agents and applications use WalletOrigin?+

Yes. The public lookup API returns the verified domain for any wallet address, so agents, exchanges and payment flows can programmatically confirm which company controls a given on-chain address.

How is this different from ENS?+

ENS maps names to addresses inside the Ethereum naming system. WalletOrigin works across multiple chains, uses the domain you already own as the trust anchor, and requires no on-chain transaction or annual renewal fee. See our WalletOrigin vs ENS page for a detailed comparison.

What does WalletOrigin cost?+

There is a free tier to verify your first domain. Paid plans add more domains, more wallet proofs, higher API lookup limits and premium trust signals. See the pricing page for current limits.

Can I remove a domain or wallet later?+

Yes. You can remove wallets and delete verified domains from your dashboard at any time. The attestation stops being published as soon as you remove it.

What happens if my subscription lapses?+

Verified domains stay published until the end of the billing period you already paid for. If a plan is not renewed, listings beyond the free-tier limits are archived rather than immediately deleted.
